What Should Expect To Pay For A Domain Name That Another Company Owns And Is Willing To Sell?
By nichemarketing | December 6th, 2009I own a company and the domain name is already taken and used by another company that only uses it to redirect people to there main site. So they dont even need it. I contacted them and they are willing to sell me the domain name. She told me to make her an offer and I am trying to figure out a ballpark figure to offer her. Please be realistic. Thanks.

You can have the domain name valued at GoDaddy.com. I would take that value and divide it in half (because all of the values I have seen are way too high).
They are an online domain auction site and they track going rates on domain names based on factors including search popularity, international recognition, etc.

Start at $1000 and see what she says. If she laughs at your offer then ask what she wants for the name. This gets the discussion started. The is no good answer to your question other than haggling as I have suggested. If the price is too high see if you can get the name you want as name.net, name.biz, etc.
